Attorney General Miyares joins Lawsuit Against Allowing Asset Managers To Direct Money To "ESG" Investments

From The "Miyares Weekly Roundup"
Jan 29, 2023

“The Biden Administration continues to use other people’s money to achieve its political goals. Virginia families have worked hard to build their retirement accounts. The federal government should be protecting that money, not putting it at risk to support the progressive ESG agenda. But this new rule – created by an unelected and unaccountable bureaucracy without input from Congress or the American people – puts progressive politics above Virginians’ financial wellbeing and security. It is another unilateral and illegal power grab by the Biden Administration.”

A Virginia Man’s Fight to Restore Faith, Freedom, and Hope to the Country

America's News - The Epoch Times
By Terri Wu - September 17, 2022 Updated: September 21, 2022

Jon Tigges traveled to 31 states over the summer to share what he learned from Loudoun County residents' fight for individual, parental rights.

That June, Tigges, a resident of northern Virginia’s Loudoun County, unexpectedly became the face of a heated school board meeting that resulted in him being charged with trespassing.

Dozens of parents had shown out in force to protest a pro-transgender policy at the Loudoun County school board meeting. The board ended the public comment session early, citing a disruptive crowd. During the recess afterward, the audience chanted “shame on you” to the empty dais and started singing the national anthem.

Consequences of Political Activism Are No Longer Only One-Sided

The Daily Signal - Consequences of Political Activism Are No Longer Only One-Sided
Joshua Arnold / August 18, 2022

Conservative states have a warning for corporations that have “gone woke”: The consequences of political activism are no longer one-sided.

This month, West Virginia declared it would no longer do business with five Wall Street banks over the companies’ anti-coal or anti-fossil fuel policies.

Big business has really painted itself into a corner. To leftists, it has made promises it can’t keep. To conservatives, those same promises are declarations of war.

Pinched between inflation and recession, and trapped in no man’s land of a culture war they helped to inflame, mega-corporations are in an unenviable position, with no one to blame but themselves. It’s time for arrogant C-suites to remember: There’s no such thing as “Too big to Fail.”

Jason Miyares — Virginia’s ‘new sheriff’ — has had a busy first week. He’s not done.
By Jane Harper - The Virginian-Pilot | Jan 21, 2022 at 10:06 AM

On the campaign trail, Jason Miyares promised swift change if elected Virginia’s attorney general. A week into the job, he’s announced several significant changes ― opening an investigation of the state’s parole board, pulling Virginia from a multi-state climate lawsuit and firing more than two dozen employees.

The Virginia Beach Republican and former state delegate also managed to garner national media attention, including an interview Monday with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, in which he declared “there’s a New Sheriff in town.”

Hospital backs down, allows patient to receive ivermectin rather than pay $10K a day in fines
Life Site News - Ashley Sadler - Tue Dec 14, 2021 - 8:31 pm EST

The victory underscores the value of taking legal action to defend medical freedoms, and may serve as a warning to other hospitals that attempt to deprive patients of their rights.

A Virginia hospital agreed to permit a COVID-19 patient to receive ivermectin after concerned family members filed a legal challenge against the hospital for initially refusing to give the woman the benign drug that has been shown to alleviate coronavirus symptoms.

The move came after a court found the hospital to be in contempt and threatened fines of $10,000 per day if they refused to obey prior orders to provide the desired treatment option.

The development underscores the value of taking legal action to defend medical freedoms and may serve as a warning to other hospitals that attempt to deprive patients of their right to try safe medical products not included in the hospital’s protocols.

Kathy Davies, a Catholic wife and mother of five children and 10 grandchildren who has been receiving treatment for COVID-19 at Fauquier Health for several months, was given her first dose of ivermectin on Monday night thanks to the court’s action.

Stop the War On Fossil Fuels

Created By Thomas Jefferson Institute - Mar 24, 2021 | 303 signatures

Virginia’s current leaders have declared war on fossil fuels.

They passed the Virginia Clean Economy Act, requiring an end to natural gas electricity generation, dependency on unreliable solar and wind power, and the clear-cutting of forest and farmland equal to 20 times the size of Manhattan. They also imposed a carbon tax on electric bills.

They voted to allow regulators in California to impose engine fuel efficiency standards and electric vehicle mandates on Virginians. When California’s regulators ban the sale of internal combustion cars and trucks, so will Virginia’s regulators.

Their next step will be to approve the Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI) – an inter-state compact with 13 other Northeastern states. It would raise gasoline taxes to 50 cents or more a gallon, impose gas rationing at the wholesale level, reduce revenues for road repairs and construction, and devastate Virginia’s rural economy.

The stated goal of its leaders: End the use of gasoline and force you to subsidize someone else’s shiny new electric car. Will you support ending all unconstitutional mandates such as mask orders, forced vaccination and shutting down our schools, churches and businesses

Say NO.

The Thomas Jefferson Institute invites you to join the war for economic freedom and individual choice by signing our petition and demanding Virginia’s leaders oppose joining the Transportation and Climate Initiative.

Our Petition:

We, the undersigned, oppose Virginia’s participation in the Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI). TCI will raise gas taxes on Virginians, force rationing of gasoline at the wholesale level, reduce state revenues for road repairs and construction, and devastate Virginia’s rural economy. We reject TCI as nothing more than a tax on poor and working Virginians to subsidize electric vehicles for wealthy Virginians and urge you to oppose any measure that would bind the Commonwealth to the TCI.

Loudoun Teacher Resigns

Though their school board seems determined to restrict their voices and pursue it’s own radical agenda, courageous parents, educators and concerned citizens in Loudoun County have refused to stay silent. This was powerfully demonstrated yesterday during a rally before the Loudoun County School Board meeting, which was expected to include a vote on the controversial “transgender and gender expansive” policy. But the Board met plenty of resistance:

“This summer, I have struggled with the idea of returning to school, knowing that I’ll be working yet again with a school division, that, despite its shiny tech and flashy salary, promotes political ideologies that do not square with who I am as a believer in Christ,” Laura Morris, a Loudoun elementary-school teacher, told the board during the public comment period. Then, as she began to cry, she said: “School board: I quit. I quit your policies. I quit your trainings. …. And I quit being a cog in a machine that tells me to push highly politicized agendas on our most vulnerable constituents: the children.”

University of Virginia’s school of medicine Dr. David Martin, Ph.D

By David McLoone - LifeSite News
mRNA COVID-19 vaccines are really ‘gene therapy’ and not vaccines: ethicist

The media and big pharma are part of a 'propaganda war' creating public confusion with misleading claims, former University of Virginia professor David Martin explained.

February 4, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – In direct contrast with mainstream media coverage and the claims of pharmaceutical companies, business ethicist and former professor at the University of Virginia’s school of medicine Dr. David Martin, Ph.D said in an interview that “mRNA is not a vaccination. It’s a gene therapy that was originally developed for cancer treatment.” On top of that, Martin described the role the media have played in propagating falsehoods around PCR testing for COVID-19.

Martin said that as part of a “propaganda war” a widespread conflation of terms has been promulgated by media and research institutions, including Johns Hopkins University. According to Martin, the World Health Organization (WHO) correctly distinguished SARS-CoV-2 as a virus and COVID-19 as a set of clinical symptoms, but that confusion has arisen from a false “causal link” made by the media, reporting that SARS-CoV-2 causes COVID-19.

2.5 Million ‘Extra’ Registrants on Voting Rolls

Fitton: Judicial Watch Finds 2.5 Million ‘Extra’ Registrants on Voting Rolls – Warns 5 States to Clean Up or Face Federal Lawsuit

One of the most important things we can do in this election year is continue to force states and counties across the nation to comply with the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA).

And we are. We have sent notice-of-violation letters to 19 large counties in five states that we intend to sue unless they take steps to comply with the law and remove ineligible voter registrations within 90 days. Section 8 of the act requires jurisdictions to take reasonable efforts to remove ineligible registrations from their rolls.

These 378 counties combined had about 2.5 million registrations over the 100%-registered mark, which is a drop of about one million from our previous analysis of voter registration data. Although San Diego County removed 500,000 inactive names from voter rolls following our settlement with Los Angeles County, San Diego still has a registration rate of 117% and has one of the highest registration rates in the county.

We found major voting list issues in California, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, and Colorado.

In 2018, the Supreme Court upheld a massive voter roll cleanup that resulted from our settlement of a federal lawsuit with Ohio. California also settled a similar lawsuit with us that last year began the process of removing up to 1.5 million “inactive” names from Los Angeles County voting rolls. Kentucky also began a cleanup of up to 250,00 names last year after it entered into a consent decree to end another Judicial Watch lawsuit.

Why the Secrecy about Hospital Beds and COVID-19?
Posted on April 28, 2020 by James A. Bacon | 7 Comments

Anyone remember why the country is locked down?

I do.

With images of Italy’s collapsing healthcare system and Italian death panels doling out beds and ventilators in early March, we were told we had to take radical steps so that American hospitals would not be similarly overwhelmed by the COVID-19 virus.

“Fifteen days to slow the spread,” they told us.

And we complied.

Fifteen days became 30, which then became 45 and in some places — like Virginia — the shutdowns have no end in sight.

As you sit at home, worrying about your mental health, your job, your finances and your family do you ever wonder just how many beds are occupied by COVID patients in the hospital nearest you?

Good luck finding out.

Illinois could soon be the first state in history to have its bonds rated as “junk.” Last month, both Moody’s MCO and Standard & Poor’s downgraded Illinois debt to just one notch above junk status.

The Consequences of Failure
written by Michael Giere December 4, 2019

It’s a new crowd of extremists whose bite will be worse than their bark.

The consequences of political inaction, lack of public outreach, and intellectual timidity always end poorly in politics.

For confirmation, look no further than the Commonwealth of Virginia, where the radical left upended more than two decades of feckless Republican legislative control. The left now owns the top three statewide offices, the House of Delegates and the Senate. (Also, several important county attorney seats were won by extreme-leftists selected and funded by George Soros’ political operations.)

The consequence is that Virginia is now only a month away from taking the first significant steps towards joining it’s corrupt, anti-life, anti-faith, anti-liberty, anti-business, and high tax northeastern neighbors like Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

It is often said war is when the politicians tell you who your enemies are, and revolution is when you figure it out for yourself.

And right now in Virginia we are in the middle of a new Revolution, one based upon the founding ideas of our Republic and led by the people, not the political class.

The true result of the November 2019 election is not the ‘blue wave’ of power in the General Assembly as Democrats have taken the majority in both Houses, but rather best seen in the town halls, meeting rooms and gun shows where a sleeping giant for liberty has awakened.

And this is not a re-hash of the ‘Resist’ movement the political left has adopted since President Trump’s election, but rather a full scale political revolt. We are not simply playing defense against tyrannical laws, but rather going on the offense to take Virginia back.

One not led by politicians, nor talking heads, nor the establishment, nor political parties or even the media, but rather a movement unlike ever seen before in this century, a true revolution of the people.

Gun-Rights Leader: Virginia ‘Second Amendment Sanctuary’ Movement Just Getting Started

By Stephen Gutowski - November 27, 2019 1:45 PM

The head of the group pushing Virginia counties to refuse to enforce unconstitutional gun laws, declaring themselves "Second Amendment sanctuaries," told the Washington Free Beacon he has seen an unprecedented groundswell of support that he expects to only grow.

When Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) president Philip Van Cleave spoke with the Free Beacon on Tuesday afternoon, 15 of Virginia's 95 counties had passed sanctuary resolutions; five more joined that night.

Van Cleave said that his group would typically garner up to a hundred people at the General Assembly for past gun bills, but that nearly a thousand showed up to support the sanctuary proposal in rural Bedford County.

Former Virginia Beach Economic Development director indicted on 14 embezzlement charges.

By Alissa Skelton | The Virginian-Pilot |Nov 18, 2019 | 2:22 PM | Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach’s former economic development director who resigned abruptly more than a year ago was indicted Monday on 14 counts of felony embezzlement.

A Virginia Beach Circuit Court grand jury returned the indictments against Warren Harris. The Chesapeake resident is charged with misusing city funds for personal use from July 2016 to August 2018.

A year ago, another former economic development employee, Brian Scott Hall, had been charged with three felony counts of embezzlement. After several delays, his trial has been scheduled for Dec. 18. He worked as a business development coordinator.

Documents obtained by The Pilot through FOIA confirmed he had shipped packages to an address not associated with the city.

Warren and Hall frequently traveled around the world to promote economic development. The city has offices in the Philippines, Germany and Spain.

Dot Wood, chairwoman of the Development Authority, said she was devastated and surprised by the announcement of the new criminal charges. She said she had a professional relationship with Harris and viewed him as a good economic development director. She said she hasn’t heard from Harris, but said that Hall apologized to her about two months ago.

The Development Authority, an 11-member board that reviews economic development deals, will not be negatively impacted by the news, she said. The group is scheduled to vote Tuesday on the $325 million deal to redevelop the Dome site at the Oceanfront.

“I am beside myself," Wood said. “It is bad for the city. It is bad for his family.”

Vet Vet Challenger to Chris Peace comes on strong

King William, VA , March 14th 2019

Speaking to the King William TEA Party on Thursday evening, Hanover resident Scott Wyatt wasted no time in going after eight-term Virginia Delegate Chris Peace, a fellow Republican.

“Peace has outraged the conservative community with his recent vote joining Democrats to expand Medicaid in Virginia,” Wyatt said. “Paying for this will almost certainly mean higher taxes.”

Wyatt, who has served Hanover County as supervisor for the Cold Harbor district since 2015, said that the better alternative is private sector solutions like more choices and improving technology.

Noting criticism of Peace that he has heard from many residents of King William, Hanover and New Kent, Wyatt said that “Republicans in the 97th District want a representative who will fight against the push by Democrat liberals to grow government with unfunded mandates.”

A retired operations manager for Verizon, Wyatt emphasized the daily contacts he has with local citizens that help him understand the issues that are important. “My campaign is grass-roots. I'm not a career politician like Chris Peace and I won't be hanging out with lobbyists.”

Facing a series of pointed questions from the audience, Wyatt voiced support for regulatory reduction, tax simplification, school choice, open bidding for government contracts, election integrity, gun rights, and President Trump.

Then, what some saw as a degree of political inexperience, he said he would have more research on the issues of Referendum Reform, government-financed Broadband and reigning in local Economic Development Authorities.

Wyatt closed with a promise that if he's elected to Virginia's General Assembly, he will “vote no on tax increases and work to decrease taxes and spending.”

The Virginia Republican Party's Wyatt-Peace contest will be settled at an upcoming nominating convention. https://virginia.gop/

Libertarian campaigns in King William

Speaking to the King William T.E.A. Party on Thursday evening, U.S. Senate Candidate Matt Waters criticized his Republican and Democratic opponents for fighting over petty issues while intentionally ignoring the skyrocketing National Debt. “It's rapidly approaching twenty two trillion dollars now and growing out of control,” he said, adding that “our children's share is more than sixty five thousand dollars each !”

Waters, running on the Libertarian ticket for the seat currently held by Democrat Senator Tim Kaine, addressed a variety of financial issues as well as his views on civil liberties, immigration reform, the impending bankruptcy of the Social Security program, and social issues. He is calling for an end to the Federal Income tax, abolishing the I.R.S and abolishing payroll tax withholding. “People should have to write a check to pay their taxes, then they would be demanding spending cuts.“

Responding to the pointed question of why vote for a Libertarian who has little chance of winning, Waters pulled no punches. “It's insanity to keep voting for Republicans or Democrats, there's no real difference in how they actually govern.”

“The Libertarian message is the right message and this is the right time,” he said. “I'm asking for your support to chart a new way forward for all Americans – grounded in the tenets of 'life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.' “

The King William T.E.A Party does not formally endorse any candidate for national state or local office. Information at www.kwteaparty.com , Facebook and www.MattWaters.com

Wharton's Olivia Mitchell and Leora Friedberg of the University of Virginia discuss the $4.4 trillion public sector pension shortfall.

Not Enough time, Not Enough Money

Sanitation workers, firefighters, teachers and other state and local government employees have performed their duties in the public sector for decades with the understanding that their often lackluster salaries were propped up by excellent benefits, including an ironclad pension. But Moody’s Investors Service recently estimated that public pensions are underfunded by $4.4 trillion. That amount, which is equivalent to the economy of Germany, accounts for one-fifth of national debt. It’s a significant concern for public employees who were banking on a fully funded retirement to get them through their golden years.

Convention of States

Who is Publius Huldah? She is the writer of the flyer below. She is US Army JAG, retired, Joanna Martin.

Some of you met her at the Spotlight on Special Americans speaker event in March. There could be some candidates currently running for office who support a convention of states. Just When You Thought the Power of Eminent Domain Was Made Fair

Three natural gas pipelines proposed to pass through Virginia are being hailed as economic
boons, bringing thousands of jobs and luring manufacturers to the commonwealth.

Most every political leaders in the state, from Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe to
Republican House Speaker Bill Howell, praises the pipelines as the best way to reduce
energy costs and speed the closing of aging coal plants.

The federal Natural Gas Act, which controls the transportation and sale of natural gas,
gives private, for-profit companies the power of eminent domain when a property owner isn't
willing to sell. Unlike Virginia's constitution, federal law does not guarantee the right to
a jury trial in eminent domain cases, and it does not require companies to pay property owners
for lost profits.

In some courts, companies haven't been required to show that they negotiated in good faith
with the property owner before instituting condemnation proceedings. They've simply shown that
the two sides didn't agree on the land's worth.
